Colombia Confirmed as Official Host of the Sixteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP16) DECEMBER 19, 2023 Colombia has been officially confirmed as the host country for CBD COP16, the Sixteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity. The Bureau of the Conference of the Parties to the CBD met on 15 December and officially accepted Colombia’s offer. The conference will be held from October 21 to November 1, 2024. CBD COP16 presents a critical opportunity to build upon the momentum of the landmark Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), adopted at COP15 in December 2022. He made this remark during his participation in the event “Accelerating Implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework – Supporting Countries’ Early Actions,” organized by GEF, UN-WCMC, and the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership. At UNEA-6, countries convened to exchange experiences, lessons learned, and best practices on aligning national targets and policies with the GBF. They emphasized a whole-of-society approach to ensure participatory and inclusive impacts. The event facilitated discussions among country representatives, UN agencies, donors, and other stakeholders on the progress of NBSAPs ahead of their presentation at COP16 in October.
