GOVERNANCE

The work of the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is guided by a collaborative governance mechanism established to facilitate its development and growth, with its membership serving as the core component of this structure. This governance system consists of a Steering Committee led by two co-chairs, and a Global Coordination Unit providing secretariat support, all working in close alignment with the broader membership.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is the primary governance body of the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership, providing strategic direction, political leadership and oversight of implementation. In addition to its governance function, the Steering Committee mobilizes political and financial support, expands the partnership’s reach and promotes acceleration of biodiversity action.

The Steering Committee is led by two co-chairs, one from a developing country and one from a developed country. It comprises 12 countries maintaining legitimacy, balance and diversity.

The Steering Committee is supported by a group of observers who contribute technical expertise and operational insights to its decision-making processes. This includes four permanent observers as well as four rotating observers.
