A biodiversity fair held in Quito brought together biotrade producers, entrepreneurs, and consumers to show how everyday purchasing decisions can support nature conservation. From sustainable agricultural goods to biopharmaceutical innovations and handicrafts, the event offered a practical demonstration of how conservation and sustainable development can reinforce one another.
Georgia marked the International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May with a national photo contest and public ceremony that drew over 300,000 views on social media and brought together more than 70 stakeholders. The celebration, supported by the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership, reflects growing public engagement at a key moment in Georgia’s NBSAP revision process.
On 14-15 May 2026, the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership participated in the BIODEV2030 Legacy Workshop in Nairobi, convened by IUCN and Kenya’s Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry. The event highlighted the direct link between BIODEV2030’s work on biodiversity mainstreaming and the Partnership’s support to Kenya in operationalizing its National Biodiversity Coordination Mechanism.
The final days of the Vanuatu–Galápagos Knowledge Exchange brought the delegation from institutional sessions to community practice — visiting agro-tourism farms, a forest nursery, and local authorities to explore how the Galápagos conservation finance model reaches the people who depend on it.
Peru held a national technical workshop to review and update its National List of Invasive Alien Species, a key step in implementing the National Action Plan on Invasive Alien Species 2022-2026. The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership Facilitator Programme supported the process, bringing together public institutions, technical specialists, and academia to strengthen prevention, control, and management measures.
The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership joined the official launch of Ecuador’s Biodiversity Month as a member of the Alliance for Biodiversity. Throughout May, the Partnership will contribute to more than 30 events across the country, including a Fair for Innovation and Bio-entrepreneurship.
During days 2 and 3 of the Vanuatu–Galápagos Knowledge Exchange Mission, the delegation engaged in technical sessions and field visits with key conservation authorities and scientific institutions in the Galápagos Islands. At the Regional Environmental Summit (RES2026) in Astana, Kazakhstan, Central Asian countries signed the Regional Declaration on Cooperation among Central Asian Countries on Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Management, marking a major milestone for biodiversity cooperation in the region.
A delegation from the Republic of Vanuatu is visiting Quito and the Galápagos Islands for a knowledge exchange on biodiversity conservation finance, facilitated by the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership. Over eight days, the delegation is exploring Ecuador’s flagship financing mechanisms as it looks to advance its own biodiversity financing roadmap.
The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership and the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People collaborated on a country-to-country Knowledge Exchange addressing a shared request for support on operationalising Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) and meeting Target 3 of the Global Biodiversity Framework.
