Seventy participants from across Thailand’s government, research and private sectors gathered in Bangkok this week to turn shared biodiversity and climate commitments into coordinated, investable action on the ground.
The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership and the Indigenous Peoples and Biodiversity Coalition convened the 3rd National Roundtable on Indigenous Peoples and Biodiversity in the Philippines, bringing together Indigenous Peoples’ groups, civil society, international organizations, and government agencies to discuss the challenges, risks, and opportunities affecting Indigenous Peoples’ participation in biodiversity conservation.
While governments write NBSAPs, non-state actors, including Indigenous Peoples, local communities, women’s organizations, youth networks, and the private sector, are among the ones who can successfully deliver them. Side events at SBSTTA-28 & SBI-7 showed what sustained engagement and implementation can look like.
Sierra Leone’s Environment Protection Agency, in partnership with the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership, held four regional engagements bringing together 242 participants from across the country to build technical capacity, develop district implementation roadmaps, and sign commitment pledges to advance NBSAP 3.0 implementation.
The Spotlight Series profiles NBSAP Accelerator Partnership members and suppliers who are actively accelerating the implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) under the Global Biodiversity Framework. Around 30 young representatives gathered in Quito to contribute perspectives and recommendations toward the development of Ecuador’s Youth Action Plan for Biodiversity.

Youth leadership took centre stage at the Pacific Innovation Forum on Climate and the Environment (PIFCE), where the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership supported Vanuatu in engaging the next generation of biodiversity leaders.
Mozambique is advancing a national framework for Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs), with a Commitment Document signed by eight national and international conservation organizations at the 4th Marine Biodiversity Conference in June 2026, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to implement KMGBF Target 3.
The Government of Colombia and the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership convened the second whole-of-government workshop to strengthen implementation of Colombia’s 2030 Biodiversity Action Plan, bringing together more than 30 representatives from key national institutions to develop project proposals aligned with Colombia’s six National Biodiversity Targets.
