This side event will foster discussions and actions towards more ambitious and coordinated nature and climate actions for sustainable development, building upon momentum from UNFCCC COP28 and the Joint Statement for Climate, Nature, and People. Launched in December 2023, the COP28 Joint Statement outlines principles for collaborative efforts on integrating nature and climate. This event focuses on operationalizing these principles, including coordination, integration, investment alignment, and dissemination of best practices. It encourages participation from government representatives, civil society, academia, and other stakeholders. The expected outcomes include enhanced understanding of collaborative mechanisms, identification of opportunities for integration, increased momentum for investment alignment, and dissemination of success cases to foster peer learning among countries and stakeholders.
