BIOFIN Global Conference 2025
Santiago, Chile
6–8 May 2025
Hosted by UNDP’s Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN), the 6th Global Conference on Biodiversity Finance will gather delegates from over 130 countries to explore diverse approaches to mobilizing finance for nature.
Key themes include:
Repurposing harmful subsidies
Engaging the financial sector
Promoting impact investment and positive incentives
Integrating biodiversity into national budgets and development plans
The event also offers space for dialogue on aligning national biodiversity finance strategies with the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Global Biodiversity Finance Plan.
The conference builds on the momentum of previous BIOFIN gatherings in Slovakia, Mexico, India, South Africa, and a virtual edition with the OECD.
The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative to accelerate the implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), raise their political profile, and drive collective action for nature. It is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through its International Climate Initiative (IKI), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), through the global project “GBF Implementation,” implemented by GIZ. Its work is facilitated by a Global Coordination Unit (GCU) hosted by UNEP, UNDP and the Secretariat of the CBD.
