IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025
09-15 October 2025 | Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The IUCN World Conservation Congress is held every four years, bringing together governments, scientists, Indigenous leaders, civil society, and the private sector to shape global priorities for nature conservation and sustainable development.
Taking place in Abu Dhabi, the 2025 Congress will focus on five critical themes to drive transformative change at the intersection of climate, biodiversity, and human well-being. With only five years remaining to achieve the Global Biodiversity Framework, Paris Agreement, and Sustainable Development Goals, the Congress is expected to advance the ambition and scaling solutions for people and planet.
The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative to accelerate the implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), raise their political profile, and drive collective action for nature. It is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through its International Climate Initiative (IKI), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), through the global project “GBF Implementation,” implemented by GIZ. Its work is facilitated by a Global Coordination Unit (GCU) hosted by UNEP, UNDP and the Secretariat of the CBD.
