Ministerial roundtable on synergies hosted by Colombia and Germany at UNGA80

23 September 2025 | New York, USA

On the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), Colombia and Germany—co-chairs of the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership—will host a high-level ministerial roundtable to strengthen political will and advance synergies across climate, biodiversity, and land.

The dialogue will bring ministers and global leaders together to articulate a shared political vision for integrated implementation of the Rio Conventions, discuss pathways towards COP30 and beyond, and highlight policy actions and financing solutions to accelerate progress on the 2030 Agenda.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative to accelerate the implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), raise their political profile, and drive collective action for nature. It is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through its International Climate Initiative (IKI), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), through the global project “GBF Implementation,” implemented by GIZ. Its work is facilitated by a Global Coordination Unit (GCU) hosted by UNEP, UNDP and the Secretariat of the CBD.
