Twentieth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CITES (COP20)

NBSAP Accelerator Partnership | Event

14 November - 5 December 2025 | Samarkand, Uzbekistan

The twentieth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CITES (COP20) will take place in Samarkand, bringing together governments and partners to advance global efforts on the sustainable, legal, and traceable trade of wild fauna and flora. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) aims to ensure that international trade does not threaten the survival of species.

COP20 will review progress under the Convention, consider proposals to amend species listings, and strengthen measures to address illegal trade, improve enforcement, and enhance cooperation across sectors. The session will also provide a platform to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities for safeguarding biodiversity through effective international trade regulation.
