Accelerants Framework course now open for enrollment
NBSAP Accelerator Partnership | Updates
October 23, 2026
- Accompanying the launch of the Accelerants Framework, a new free, six-week online learning space is open for enrollment, helping countries turn national biodiversity plans into action.
- The course combines self-paced study with live sessions for real-time problem-solving and peer exchange with practitioners from across the globe.
- Registration is open. The course begins 1 February 2027 and is available in English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
The Accelerants Framework is a new practical tool from the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership, launching officially at CBD COP17 in Yerevan. It gives governments, development partners, and civil society a shared language for diagnosing stalled implementation and identifying the pathways that can move it forward.
Accompanying the framework’s launch, the Accelerator’s new online course guides participants through its application, giving leaders and practitioners the opportunity to begin accelerating implementation. At a moment when the global review at COP17 makes the urgency of action clear, the framework and course offer a direct and practical response.
The course, The Accelerants Framework: A Systems Approach to NBSAP Implementation, runs from 1 February to 14 March 2027 and is available in English, French, Russian, and Spanish.

Learning alongside practitioners from across the globe
What sets the course apart is its hands-on approach: participants work through real implementation problems together. The course guides participants through the enabling conditions, capacities, and approaches that turn national biodiversity plans into tangible outcomes.
Each weekly module combines approximately two hours of self-paced study with an optional live webinar that offers a dedicated space for participants to bring knowledge, ideas, and challenges directly to the course team and fellow practitioners from across the globe. The course offers both a flexible individual study option and a global peer space for ideas, problem-solving, and knowledge exchange with practitioners facing the same challenges from different country contexts.
What the course covers
The six weekly modules offer space to diagnose and address implementation challenges and opportunities through the Accelerants Framework’s five pathways.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Week 1: Foundations- Diagnosing the systemic causes of the planning-delivery gap and identifying high-leverage intervention points
- Week 2: Implementation roadmap- Building theories of change and sequencing priorities under resource constraints
- Week 3: Participation and inclusion- Designing meaningful stakeholder engagement at scale
- Week 4: Integration and alignment- Mainstreaming biodiversity across sectors and policy frameworks
- Week 5: Enabling environment- Building the political, institutional, and financial conditions for sustained delivery
- Week 6: Systemic transformation- Institutionalizing effective approaches and shifting the economic and governance systems that shape implementation at scale
Who can join and how to register
The course is designed for national biodiversity coordinators, planners, and civil servants across environment, finance, planning, agriculture, and infrastructure ministries, as well as project directors and technical specialists, civil society and community leaders, and development partners working on NBSAP delivery. No prior experience is required. All participants who complete the course requirements will receive an official certificate of completion issued by the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership. Register here →
An orientation email with the full schedule and webinar links will be sent to all enrolled participants on 25 January 2027.
The Accelerants Framework was developed by the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership and will be launched on 27 October at Acceleration Day at CBD COP17 in Yerevan. The limited print edition is available now.
