The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership joined government representatives, regional organizations, and partners at the CBD Regional Dialogue on Biodiversity Monitoring and Reporting for Francophone African Countries, held from 3-5 September 2025 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Organized by SCBD, UNEP, GIZ, COMIFAC, and IFDD, the three-day dialogue provided a platform for discussions aimed at accelerating progress on revising and implementing national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) and preparing seventh national reports in alignment with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The dialogue focused on monitoring and reporting, while also addressing restoration of degraded ecosystems, access to multilateral funds and the importance of partnership building and collaboration. These exchanges created space for both capacity development and peer learning through technical presentations and country-led sharing of best practices, solutions, and innovations.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership supported the dialogues, highlighting tangible ways to accelerate implementation processes by leveraging country-led matchmaking. In a dedicated presentation, the partnership presented its MatchMaking Mechanism (MMM), which serves as a neutral platform to connect countries with providers of tailored technical and financial assistance. In the context of the dialogues, the MMM was presented as a tool for finding and leveraging the right support for monitoring and reporting.

On the margins of the event, bilateral discussions were held regarding membership and matchmaking with the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership, which has seen steady growth in membership interest and a rise in successful matches in 2025. Continued conversations were also held with subregional actors, such as the Observatoire du Sahara et du Sahel (OSS), which matched with Somalia earlier this year, and the Ecological Monitoring Centre (CSE), on their potentially catalytic role as subregional Technical, Scientific, and Cooperation Centres (TSCCs).

By fostering both acceleration and collaboration, the dialogues helped to ensure that countries in the region can more effectively revise and implement their NBSAPs, report on progress, and access the resources needed to achieve the goals of the Global Biodiversity Framework.
