Astana Regional Ecological Summit 2026

Astana, Kazakhstan | 22-24 April 2026

The Regional Ecological Summit 2026 (RES 2026) will take place in Astana from 22-24 April 2026 as the culmination of a two-year preparatory process launched in 2024. Initiated by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and delivered in partnership with the United Nations, the Summit aims to bring Central Asian countries together to develop coordinated solutions to climate change and environmental challenges.

RES 2026 will bring together governments, international organizations, the scientific community, business, civil society, and youth to advance regional cooperation on climate transition, adaptation, food security, natural resource management, green finance, and environmental resilience. The Summit seeks to produce concrete initiatives, including a Joint Declaration by Heads of State and a Regional Action Programme for 2026-2030 to support sustainable development in Central Asia.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative that supports the implementation of NBSAPs to collectively achieve the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany, supported by the governments of Germany, Norway, Canada and France, and coordinated by a Global Coordination Unit hosted by the Secretariat of the CBD, UNDP and UNEP.
