CBD Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-28)

The 28th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-28) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will take place in Nairobi from 27 July-1 August 2026. The meeting will focus on organizational matters and substantive scientific and technical issues related to implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Organized by the CBD Secretariat with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the session will address topics including planning, monitoring, reporting and review, IPBES-related matters, synthetic biology, sustainable wildlife management, protected areas, and marine and coastal biodiversity. Discussions will also consider scientific and technical needs to support effective implementation of the GBF.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative that supports the implementation of NBSAPs to collectively achieve the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany, supported by the governments of Germany, Norway, Canada and France, and coordinated by a Global Coordination Unit hosted by the Secretariat of the CBD, UNDP and UNEP.
