The Kunming Dialogue is an informal technical dialogue on collective progress in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), convened in support of the global review. Regional consultations take place the day before, on 6 September 2026.
It responds to a mandate from CBD COP 16, which established the global review as a party-led process and requested the Executive Secretary to facilitate the dialogue. Participants include parties, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, women and youth representatives, academia, the private and financial sectors, experts and other stakeholders. Parties could nominate up to three delegates each, with a limited number of places for representatives of Indigenous Peoples and local communities and for observers. The discussions come as parties prepare for COP 17.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative that supports the implementation of NBSAPs to collectively achieve the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany, supported by the governments of Germany, Norway, Canada and France, and coordinated by a Global Coordination Unit hosted by the Secretariat of the CBD, UNDP and UNEP.
