NBSAP Accelerator Partnership | Updates

August 12, 2025

Georgia has officially launched the revision of its National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP), setting the stage for a more inclusive and ambitious approach to biodiversity planning. Building on the country’s earlier NBSAP (2014-2020), this new phase is supported by GEF-7 Early Action Support and implemented by the Environmental Information and Education Center (LEPL) under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

The launch event brought together representatives from government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector to kick off the process. Carl Amirgulashvili, Head of the Biodiversity and Forestry Department, opened the meeting and moderated the session. The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of developing an ambitious NBSAP. She highlighted Georgia’s commitment to biodiversity and wished success to the department and all stakeholders involved.
