On World Biodiversity Day 2026, an online dialogue brought together youth representatives, practitioners, and biodiversity stakeholders to discuss local actions in Pakistan for global impact. The session was organized with Skillistan, the Pakistan Youth Biodiversity Network, GYBN, and the Global Front for Biodiversity, with NBSAP Accelerator Partnership facilitator for Pakistan Javeria Afzal opening the discussion by setting the scene on the 2026 theme and Pakistan’s biodiversity commitments under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
An intergenerational conversation on policy and action
A moderated panel brought together policymakers, biodiversity experts, and youth leaders to discuss where policy meets youth action, exploring the connections between global frameworks, national commitments, and what young people can contribute on the ground.
Biodiversity in action: showcasing Pakistan's initiatives
The dialogue included a showcase of initiatives working on innovation, community engagement, and biodiversity impact across Pakistan, with participants sharing examples of their work in conservation and environmental action.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative that supports the implementation of NBSAPs to collectively achieve the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany, supported by the governments of Germany, Norway, Canada and France, and coordinated by a Global Coordination Unit hosted by the Secretariat of the CBD, UNDP and UNEP.
