Regional Dialogue on biodiversity monitoring and reporting for Francophone African countries

Yaoundé, Cameroon | 3–5 September 2025

The Regional Dialogue on Biodiversity Monitoring and Reporting for Francophone African Countries will take place in Yaoundé, co-organized by UNEP, the CBD Secretariat, COMIFAC, and IFDD, with the support of the Government of Cameroon. The event will gather decision-makers, experts, and partners to accelerate implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and prepare for the Seventh National Reports.

Discussions will cover the revision of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), development of monitoring systems and indicators, ecosystem restoration, and access to multilateral funding. The Dialogue will also highlight the role of regional technical and scientific cooperation centers in supporting national reporting, capacity-building, and knowledge sharing across Africa.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative that supports the implementation of NBSAPs to collectively achieve the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany, supported by the governments of Germany, Norway, Canada and France, and coordinated by a Global Coordination Unit hosted by the Secretariat of the CBD, UNDP and UNEP.
