The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will host a Subregional Capacity-Building Workshop on Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) from 17 to 20 June 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. This workshop aims to support East and Southeast Asian countries in implementing Target 3, which focuses on conserving 30% of terrestrial, inland water, and marine and coastal areas through effective, equitable, and ecologically representative systems of protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs).
Participants will include national focal points for the CBD and its protocols from countries in the region, indigenous peoples and local communities, and relevant organizations. The workshop will provide technical support, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote regional collaboration to advance the establishment and management of protected areas and OECMs.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative that supports the implementation of NBSAPs to collectively achieve the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany, supported by the governments of Germany, Norway, Canada and France, and coordinated by a Global Coordination Unit hosted by the Secretariat of the CBD, UNDP and UNEP.
