This training will bring together participants from seven countries for focused exchange on gender equality and systemic thinking in biodiversity planning and policy.

The event is part of the project Accelerating systemic change for gender equality and biodiversity conservation through NBSAPs”funded by the Government of Canada. The objective is to build technical capacity and co-develop national strategies that apply gender-transformative, systems-based approaches to biodiversity governance.

Participants will:

  • Deepen understanding of gender equality in biodiversity policy
  • Explore real-world examples of gender-responsive and Indigenous-led conservation projects
  • Refine national-level implementation plans aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, particularly Targets 22 and 23, and the CBD Gender Plan of Action 2023–2030

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative that supports the implementation of NBSAPs to collectively achieve the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany, supported by the governments of Germany, Norway, Canada and France, and coordinated by a Global Coordination Unit hosted by the Secretariat of the CBD, UNDP and UNEP.
