Colombia’s second whole-of-government workshop advances implementation of the 2030 Biodiversity Action Plan

The implementation of Colombia’s 2030 Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP 2030) requires a shared commitment across the entire government. That is why the Government of Colombia and the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership continue promoting the whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach as a cornerstone of national biodiversity implementation.

The second whole-of-government workshop brought together more than 30 representatives from National Natural Parks, ANLA, the Alexander von Humboldt Research Institute, SINCHI, IIAP, IDEAM, and INVEMAR to actively participate in the initial development of project proposals that will contribute to the portfolio of initiatives supporting BAP 2030 implementation. Their participation reflects strong institutional commitment and a shared interest in advancing Colombia’s six National Biodiversity Targets.

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the whole-of-government approach by facilitating coordination among institutions and promoting the development of initiatives around priority themes that can help mobilise technical and financial resources. This second workshop marks another step toward building a shared agenda to accelerate BAP 2030 implementation and consolidate biodiversity as a cross-cutting priority for Colombia’s sustainable development.

It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany, supported by the governments of Germany, Norway, Canada and France, and coordinated by a Global Coordination Unit hosted by the Secretariat of the CBD, UNDP and UNEP.
